Henrik C. Pedersen is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Energy within the Faculty of Engineering and Science, specializing in mechatronics and fluid power systems. He holds a dual role as Head of the Mechatronic Systems section since 2021. His expertise spans hydraulic system design, digital hydraulics, and renewable energy applications like wind and wave power systems. He has been awarded multiple Best Paper Awards (e.g., SICFP'23, FFPS 2014) and teaching honors including Teacher of the Year 2013 and 2010.
His research focuses on optimizing mechatronic systems, particularly in reliability, fault detection, and condition monitoring. Notable projects include HyRel (2022–2027), addressing wind turbine pitch system reliability, and DigitalPTO (2019–2020), developing digital hydraulic power take-off systems for offshore applications.
He has supervised three PhD students and contributed to over 180 publications. His work aligns with UN SDG 7 (Affordable Clean Energy) through advancements in wind and wave energy systems. Key labs/teams include the Mechatronic Systems section and collaborations with Vattenfall and EUDP-funded initiatives.
