Henning Schröder is an Instructor of Saxophone at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, Western Michigan University, and concurrently serves as an Associate Professor of Music at Ohio Northern University. His primary roles include teaching saxophone, chamber music, music theory, and music history. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Saxophone Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, alongside advanced degrees in saxophone performance and pedagogy from the University of Arts Berlin.
His research and performance interests focus on saxophone performance, pedagogy, and the exploration of both classical and contemporary repertoire. Schröder is renowned for his work with ensembles like the Capitol Quartet and his collaborations with pianist Yu-Lien The and the Hiding Duo. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and has performed globally with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and ensembles like Max Raabe & Palast Orchester.
As a dedicated educator, Schröder also participates in the Brevard Summer Music Festival Artist Faculty in North Carolina. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing both technical mastery and artistic expression.
