Henning Kirschbaum is a Researcher at the Department of Practical Philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2023. He holds an MA and is affiliated with the Philosophical Seminar. His research focuses on normative ethics (especially Kantian philosophy) and free will, exploring topics like moral duties and determinism's incompatibility with free will.
Education: Completed a Master's in Philosophy at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (2022-2023) and a Bachelor's in Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2018-2022). Notable academic roles include a fellowship with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (2019-2023) and a study assistant position at Mainz's Philosophy Department, where he led logic and argumentation theory tutorials.
Key achievements include an award-winning bachelor's thesis on Peter van Inwagen's consequence argument and contributions to Kantian moral theory through his master's work. He currently works in Mainz's Practical Philosophy I division under Prof. Tim Henning.
