Research Overview: The Utzat Group investigates two interconnected research schemes. The first targets Colloidal Semiconductor Nanocrystals, Emerging Single-Photon Emitters, and Optical Nanoscopy, aiming to synthesize semiconductor materials with nanoscale optical control. This work spans photonic, electronic, spin, and vibrational degrees of freedom for optoelectronic applications like single-photon sources, LEDs, and nanolasers.
The second scheme focuses on Nano-Optics, Photonically-Enhanced Spectroscopy, and Single-Molecule Bio-Sensing. His team develops advanced optical spectroscopy techniques using nanophotonics and microcavities, including surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), refractive-index sensing, and quantum-enhanced measurements to study biomacromolecular processes at the single-molecule level.
