Helisse Levine

Helisse Levine is a Professor of Public Administration and Director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus. She has been a faculty member since 2008, teaching and mentoring MPA students in financial analysis, public budgeting, healthcare finance, and political economy.

Dr. Levine’s research focuses on the intersection of economic and fiscal constraints in government organizations, social inequities in healthcare and governance across racial and ethnic lines, and public administration pedagogy. She emphasizes assessment frameworks aligned with the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), the MPA’s accrediting body.

She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Review of Public Personnel and Administration and Public Finance and Management, and co-edited notable books including The Handbook of Fiscal Crisis and Women in Public Administration: Theory and Practice.
