معرفی
Helge Holden is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NTNU. He serves as Chair of the Abel Prize Committee (2023–2026) and co-PI on the IMod project, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to data-based modeling. Previously, he led the Toppforsk project WaNP and served as Secretary General of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) from 2015–2022. His research spans differential equations, mathematical physics, stochastic analysis, and flow in porous media. Notable contributions include work on hyperbolic conservation laws, completely integrable systems, and the Camassa-Holm equation. Holden has authored numerous publications and edited volumes, including *The Abel Prize 2018–2022* (Springer, 2024). He regularly teaches advanced courses such as *Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations and Sobolev Spaces* and contributes to policy debates on research funding and academic governance.
Research interests prominently feature: (1) Analytical and numerical studies of nonlinear PDEs, (2) Stochastic processes in fluid dynamics, (3) Mathematical modeling of traffic flow, and (4) Applications of differential equations in interdisciplinary contexts. His recent work explores the interplay between artificial intelligence and mathematical research methodologies.
Publications reflect a strong focus on theoretical foundations while addressing applied problems like vehicular traffic networks and evolutionary biology models. Grants and projects highlight his leadership in shaping both national and international research agendas. Holden is actively involved in science communication, advocating for robust research policies and STEM education initiatives.
