معرفی
Helge Ewers is a Professor of Membrane Biochemistry at the Department of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy (Freie Universität Berlin). His research focuses on membrane dynamics, endocytosis, and cellular biophysics, particularly investigating synaptic vesicle condensation, actin regulation, and lipid-protein interactions. He leads the Ewers Group, which explores advanced microscopy techniques and molecular mechanisms underlying membrane organization. His lab members include PhD candidates, researchers, and technical staff.
Key research interests include membrane biochemistry, cell biology, and biophysics, with recent breakthroughs in clathrin inhibitor development (Horatscheck et al., 2024) and optogenetic single-molecule control. The group actively collaborates on projects involving expansion microscopy and automated neuronal analysis. Open positions are available for motivated students in cell biology, biophysics, and computational image analysis.
Helge Ewers’ lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including superresolution microscopes and automated imaging systems. He advises PhD students such as Nadja Hümpfer, Kita Schmidt, and Yagmur Balim Urem, and collaborates with groups like the Freund Group in structural immunology. His work integrates experimental and computational approaches to unravel fundamental cellular processes.
