Helge Ewers

Professor Helge Ewers is a faculty member at Freie Universität Berlin, where he leads the Ewers Research Group - Membrane Biochemistry within the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His laboratory is located at Thielallee 63 in Berlin.

His research program focuses on membrane biochemistry with specific interests in:

• Cellular targeting mechanisms in viral infection
• Molecular switches in protein translocation machinery
• Spatiotemporal control of receptor activation
• Quantitative image analysis techniques
• Septin scaffold functionality in signaling pathways
• High-resolution microscopy of nanoscale membrane structures

Professor Ewers has led numerous DFG-funded research initiatives including:
