Her research focuses on two primary strands: performance in Francophone West Africa and migration contexts (2002–ongoing) and transnational families between Senegal and Europe (2011–ongoing). She has extensively studied dance in urban Senegal, examining its relationship to morality, gender, and transnational policy, while her migration research investigates bi-national marriages and European immigration regulations.
Recent publications analyze globalization’s impact on African dance forms, postcolonial choreographic politics, and transnational family dynamics. Awards include the 2013 Amaury Talbot Prize and a Special Citation from the Society of Dance History Scholars.
Teaching covers core and optional modules in African Studies, anthropology of music/performance, gender/migration, and transnational families at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
