Helena Goldwater

Helena Goldwater is a Lecturer at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, part of the University of the Arts London. She specializes in performance art and painting, often exploring themes of subjectivity, labor, and the transformation of everyday acts into devotional practices through prolonged processes.

Her performances, which can last up to four hours daily over several days, have been exhibited internationally at institutions such as Tate Britain, Venice International Performance Art Week, and MOCA London. She also co-curated the online resource Edge of an Era, focusing on 1980s UK performance art.

Helena’s research emphasizes the intersection of photography and performance, with collaborations like Double Exposures (2013-15) with Manuel Vason. Her works often incorporate hair as a material to interrogate boundaries, gender, and the sublime.
