معرفی
Helena Filipsson is a Professor in the Department of Geology at Lund University and Principal Investigator within the strategic research environment BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate). Her work integrates marine geology, micropalaeontology and palaeoclimatology to decipher 130,000 years of ocean–climate interactions.
Research Interests
- Reconstruction of past marine environments using benthic foraminifera and sediment proxies
- Land–sea–atmosphere interactions in coastal systems (Baltic Sea, Skagerrak, fjords, upwelling zones)
- Proxy calibration and validation via experimental and field studies
- Impacts of anthropogenic change on carbon cycling and ecosystem functioning
She leads several active projects funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR), Formas, the Crafoord Foundation and the Oscar & Lili Lamm Foundation, focusing on topics ranging from oil-spill impacts in Hanö Bay to the use of museum collections for climate-data mining.
Awards & Recognition
- The Swedish King’s 50th Anniversary Foundation Award (2010)
Supervision & Collaboration
Filipsson supervises doctoral students and maintains extensive international collaborations, including recent visiting research periods at Tongji University and active participation in the PAGES and PO2 scientific networks. She is the scientific contact for the Swedish icebreaker Oden within Quaternary sciences, ensuring access to polar research platforms for sediment-core recovery and oceanographic campaigns.
