Prof. Dr. Heather Stoll serves as Full Professor and Head of the Geological Institute at ETH Zurich's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, holding the Professorship for Climate Geology. Based at NO G 51.2, Sonneggstrasse 5, Zurich, she maintains active research and teaching roles within D-EAPS (Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences).
Her research spans climate geology with emphasis on:
- Biological and chemical processes in lacustrine and marine sedimentary systems
- Quaternary climate history and palaeoclimatology
- Geomorphological evolution of Earth's surface
- Integrated earth systems dynamics
- Climate proxy development through geological records
For Fall semester 2025, she teaches core courses including Sedimentology II, Climate History and Palaeoclimatology, and Quaternary Geology. She leads the Climate Geology research group while supervising doctoral students in earth sciences.
Her academic service includes teaching ethics and scientific integrity for D-EAPS doctoral candidates. Current research directions focus on reconstructing past climate transitions through marine sediment archives and developing new geochemical proxies for environmental change.
