Helen Truby is an Adjunct Professor (Research) at Monash University's School of Primary and Allied Health Care. She holds an Honorary Professorship at Monash and has a global reputation in nutrition research, particularly in pediatric nutrition, obesity management, and translational health strategies. Her career spans clinical dietetics, academic leadership, and research collaboration across multiple institutions, including the University of Surrey (UK) and the University of Queensland.
Education and Career: Completed her Masters and PhD at the Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne), followed by 6 years at the University of Surrey. She became the inaugural Head of the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics & Food at Monash University (2009–2020). Currently based in Queensland, she maintains research and honorary roles at Monash.
Research Focus: Targets developmental stages for health interventions, such as early childhood nutrition through initiatives like the GrowandGotoolbox—a free resource library for caregivers of children under 5. Her work aligns with UN SDGs, emphasizing sustainable health solutions. Key areas include obesity prevention, energy expenditure modeling, and chronic disease management.
Recognition: Awards include Fellowships from the Association of Nutrition, Nutrition Society, and Dietitians Australia. She has contributed to national and international health policies, including NHMRC-funded initiatives.
Grants and Leadership: Led over 18 research projects, including studies on infant body composition tracking and virtual weight management programs. Served on committees like the Council of Deans of Nutrition and Dietetics Australia and New Zealand.
