معرفی
Helen Stratton is an Associate Professor in the School of Environment and Science at Griffith University, specializing in water and wastewater research. She holds roles as Discipline Head of Bioscience and Program Director for Medical and Biomedical Science programs. With over 25 years of experience, her work bridges pure science and applied engineering, focusing on microbial health risks, water treatment technologies, and environmental nanotechnology.
Her research spans
- Development of rapid detection methods for waterborne pathogens like Cryptosporidium,
- Microfluidics and nanotechnology applications in diagnostics,
- Optimization of waste stabilization and maturation ponds,
- Microbial source tracking in recreational waterways.
Recent articles emphasize innovations in PCR techniques, faecal contamination monitoring, and interdisciplinary approaches to water management. Notable awards include the AWA Distinguished Service Award (2015) and Life Membership (2016). She leads collaborative projects with institutions like Technologiezentrum Wasser (Germany) and the International Water Centre.
Stratton has supervised 12 HDR students and managed significant grants, including ARC-funded projects on microfluidics and pathogen detection. Her work integrates technical, social, and economic dimensions to address global water challenges.
