معرفی
Dr. Paul Monis is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Australia (UniSA STEM), affiliated with the School of Natural and Built Environments, Future Industries Institute, and Australian Water Quality Centre. His research focuses on environmental microbiology, water quality, and public health, with expertise in molecular monitoring of waterborne pathogens and wastewater surveillance.
His recent articles (2020–2023) highlight advancements in SARS-CoV-2 wastewater detection, real-time stormwater monitoring using UV-Vis spectroscopy, and innovative bioengineered models for Cryptosporidium culturing. These works emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to microbial community analysis, surrogate parameter development, and pathogen inactivation techniques.
Monis has contributed to public health strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic and addressed challenges in benthic cyanobacteria sampling. His collaborations span institutions like the University of Melbourne, Murdoch University, and CSIRO, supported by grants from the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Water Quality Research Australia.
As a Research Degree Supervisor, he mentors students in environmental DNA surveillance, water treatment technologies, and microbial ecology. His affiliations include SA Water Corporation and the Future Industries Institute, where he advances engineered solutions for waterborne disease detection and mitigation.
