Helen Petrie is Professor Emeritus of Human-Computer Interaction in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York. With over 20 years of pioneering research, she focuses on inclusive technology design for disabled and elderly populations. Her current work examines assistive robotics and independent living solutions.
Research explores digital health applications including: mobility aid sensors for physical disabilities; drone assistants for elderly care; and wound monitoring systems. Petrie leads projects like AART-BC (mobility aid sensors) and GUFO (assistive drones). She investigates food sustainability communication through the IKNOWFOOD initiative.
