Helen Moore is Associate Professor (Research) and leader of the Evaluation and Impact Team at Teesside University's SSSHL Research & Innovation division. She holds a BSc in Cell Biology from Durham University, an MSc in Information Technology, and a PhD in Nutrition and Obesity from Teesside University.
Her research focuses on public health interventions, systematic reviews of obesity prevention strategies, and health equity in food environments. Key areas include community-based participatory research, evaluation of weight management services, and policy impacts on dietary behaviors. She specializes in synthesizing evidence through rapid and systematic reviews to inform public health practice.
Moore's publications concentrate on health systems approaches to obesity, food environment policies, and intervention feasibility studies. Common themes include interdisciplinary methods, community engagement, and translating research into policy recommendations for health inequality reduction.
She has secured significant external funding from bodies like NIHR and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, with grants exceeding £3.8 million for projects such as the Mental Health Leadership Award (£2.4M) and Health Economic Analysis for food taxes (£734K). Her team evaluates programs addressing food insecurity, mental health services, and substance use interventions across Northeast England.
