Dr. Helen McCarthy is a Research Fellow at Keele University's School of Life Sciences, affiliated with the Institute for Science & Technology in Medicine located at RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital. She holds a PhD from the University of Chester (2011) and undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Cardiff University (2005).
Her research focuses on regenerative medicine for musculoskeletal disorders, particularly cell-based therapies for osteoarthritis and cartilage repair mechanisms. Key investigations include monitoring repair tissue quality after autologous chondrocyte implantation and identifying osteoarthritis biomarkers.
