Helen Higson is a Professor of Higher Education Learning and Management at Aston Business School, Aston University, where she also serves as Associate Dean. Her career spans over four decades in academia, with extensive leadership roles including Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (until 2021) and Head of Learning and Teaching.
- Education: PhD (Birkbeck College, London), MA in Literature and Criticism (Open University), MA in English Literature (University of Cambridge)
Research interests focus on intercultural learning, employability, quality procedures in HE, and learning analytics. She pioneered the Centre for Higher Education Learning and Management (HELM) in 2003 and contributes to policy via roles in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and Universities UK.
Key publications highlight trends in learning analytics, intercultural competence, and equity in higher education. Her work addresses the BAME attainment gap, work-based learning, and digital disadvantage.
