Professor Helen Goworek is a Professor in Durham University's Business School, joining in 2019 after serving as MSc Marketing programme leader at Leicester University. Her expertise bridges academic research and practical application in sustainable fashion, drawing from industry experience in retail buying and design management for UK retailers.
She holds a PhD by Published Works from the University of Leicester focused on product development and sustainable consumption. Her research explores buying behavior, sustainable product development, and fashion industry practices, with emphasis on ethical consumption, curriculum integration, and the UK sector's economic significance.
Recent publications (2020-2025) demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining operations, marketing, and ethics to address fashion sustainability. Key trends include supply chain justice, clothing longevity frameworks, and consumer attitudes toward sustainable fashion, reflecting growing industry and regulatory pressures.

Goworek actively supervises PhD students including Iqbal Yasin and Nadia Ahmed.
