معرفی
Helen Christian is an Associate Professor and University Lecturer in Biomedicine at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford. She has been a Fellow of St Anne's College since 2000 and serves as Director of Teaching and Education.
- University of Edinburgh (Pharmacology, BSc 1993)
- University of London (Pharmacology, PhD 1997)
Her research focuses on steroid hormone regulation of the pituitary gland, particularly the role of Annexin 1 in glucocorticoid action within neuroendocrine systems. Recent work explores hypothalamic adaptations during hibernation and circadian clock mechanisms in photoperiodism.
Recent publications highlight interdisciplinary work bridging neuroscience, endocrinology, and comparative physiology. Key themes include thyroid hormone signaling in hibernation, pituitary cell network dynamics, and circadian rhythm regulation.
Scientific recognition includes:
- University of Oxford Teaching Excellence Award (2010)
- OxTalent Award for Innovative Teaching (2011)
She contributes to educational outreach through the Christian Group and maintains active teaching resources for endocrinology.
