Helen Bowstead is an In-sessional Academic Manager and EFL Lecturer at the English Language Centre, part of the Library and Academic Development unit at the University of Plymouth. She oversees in-sessional provision including credit-rated modules, subject-specific language support, academic English workshops, and online resources. As a full-time Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), she coordinates the University of Plymouth TESOL program, offering entry-level qualifications in English Language Teaching. She pioneered the Writing Cafe, a student support initiative, and serves as a trained PALS supervisor. Helen leads the Hello Project, which pairs newly arrived international students with peer buddies, and manages the Community English program providing language classes to refugees and asylum seekers. She actively collaborates with the EDI team on sanctuary scholarships and holds roles as a Mental Health First Aider and Wellbeing Champion.
