Helen Bendon is Associate Professor and Interim Head of the School of Film at Middlesex University. Her practice-led research explores art direction, locative media, and ethical documentary practices.
She specializes in blended theory-practice pedagogy, civic engagement through film, and inclusive curriculum design. Current PhD supervision includes projects on autobiographical documentary and multi-screen filmmaking.
Funded projects include Alexandra Palace Learning Zone (HLF) and No Home for Hate (HEFCE), integrating arts-based approaches with community heritage and social justice initiatives.
Publications examine collaborative filmmaking processes and historical storytelling in museum contexts.
