Helen Ayo-Ajayi is the Head of Placements and Work Based Learning at Buckinghamshire New University, overseeing BSc (Hons) Children's Nursing and MSc Physician Associate Studies programs. She joined in 2012 with prior roles as an Education Lead for Paediatrics and Preceptorship Lead, specializing in clinical practice support for nursing students and staff development. She holds a Master’s in Education (2013), focusing on student attrition and inclusive curricula for BAME students.
Her professional memberships include NMC, Royal College of Nurses, University Council Union, and The African Nurses Union. She notably led as interim Associate Head of School during the pandemic, managing nursing provision changes and securing student placements. She co-founded the African Nurses Union with a BNU alum, advocating for BAME staff and patients.
Research interests center on enhancing student retention through clinical support systems, curriculum inclusivity, and neonatal nursing practices. She has developed NHS initiatives like the productive ward program and preceptorship training for new staff.
