Helen Allen is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice at the Ohio State School of Music, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned a DMA in Vocal Performance (2013), MM (2001), and BM (1998) from The Ohio State University, with a Singing Health Specialization. Her expertise spans voice pedagogy, singing health, and lyric diction in French, German, and Italian, alongside opera performance. She has performed major roles in operas like Die Zauberflöte and Fidelio, and has been a soloist in works such as Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Poulenc’s Gloria.
Dr. Allen has received awards including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Encouragement Award and has collaborated with renowned artists like Martina Arroyo. Her students have won national competitions and joined prestigious programs like the Santa Fe Opera and Metropolitan Opera. She directs the Grace Notes Choral Ensemble and previously taught at Otterbein University for 21 years.
