Dr. Helen R. Abadiano is a Professor of Literacy Education and Interim Associate Dean in the School of Education at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). She holds a PhD from The Ohio State University in Language, Literature, and Reading Education. Her expertise spans literacy pedagogy, curriculum development, multicultural education, and teacher training. She teaches graduate courses such as Seminar in Literacy Research & Assessment and Practicum for Literacy Coach.

- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (University of Saint Agustin, 1966)
Research Interests: Dr. Abadiano focuses on literacy for diverse populations, second language acquisition, family literacy, and educational leadership. She has led initiatives like the BIMEC Program for children of incarcerated parents and Family Literacy in the 21st Century.
Publications & Awards: She has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and edited numerous journals, including the New England Reading Association Journal. Awards include the CCSU Distinguished Service Award (2011) and recognition for community service through literacy advocacy.
Grants & Leadership: She secured grants totaling over $2M for literacy programs. As Interim Associate Dean, she oversees accreditation and curriculum reforms. She has served on accreditation teams for NECHE and CAEP.
Labs & Teams: Collaborates with P-12 schools on literacy initiatives and mentorship programs for future educators.
