Heike Sefrin-Weis is an Associate Professor Emerita of Classics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina, affiliated with both the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Language, Literature and Cultures. She holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh (2002) and a Dr. rer. nat from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (1997). Her research focuses on Ancient Philosophy, Ancient Science, and the History of Mathematics, particularly Aristotle's metaphysics, methods in Greek geometry, and connections between ancient medicine/psychology and natural philosophy. Her editorial work includes co-editing volumes on Leibniz's mathematical and scientific correspondence, and a critical edition of Pappus of Alexandria's Book IV. She currently holds office in Byrnes Hall Room 421.
