Heike C. Spickermann is the Scientific Coordinator of the Center for Intercultural Studies (ZIS) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Since 1999, she has held key roles in research coordination, managing interdisciplinary projects, and organizing academic events. She earned a Master of Arts in General and Comparative Literature in 2003, incorporating humanities and social sciences. Her work focuses on knowledge transfer, event management (e.g., the CEDITRAA project), and editorial leadership, including managing the Intercultural Studies publication series. Her research interests include classical modernity, comparative studies (Latin America/Europe), and the intersection of science, media, and cultural institutions.
Key roles include project coordination for the RMU-BMBF joint project CEDITRAA (2021–2027) and leadership in the Georg Forster Forum (GFF), a new interdisciplinary profile area at JGU. She has organized major conferences, such as the Perspectives on Interculturality symposium (2017) and the Transnational American Studies event (2016). Her memberships include the International Gutenberg Society and the Association of European Migration Institutions (AEMI).
Publications include co-editing volumes on intercultural studies and transnational American studies. She has also contributed to exhibitions, lectures on migration and intercultural policy, and cultural events like the Mainz Science Fair and the Kültür alakart cultural week. Her work bridges academic research, public engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration across global contexts.
