معرفی
Heidi de Wet is an Associate Professor of Physiology and University Lecturer at the University of Oxford's Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. She is also a Fellow and Director of Studies for Pre-clinical Medicine at St Catherine's College. Her research focuses on ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, particularly in gut endocrine cells, and their roles in nutrient sensing and hormonal regulation. She earned a BSc from Northwestern University (South Africa) and a DPhil from the University of Cape Town Medical School (2000). Her postdoctoral work at Oxford explored neonatal diabetes and ABC transporters, shifting later to gut L/K-cell function.
Her recent work investigates GLP-1 secretion mechanisms, hormonal therapies for obesity, and the metabolic effects of traditional medicines. She collaborates on interdisciplinary studies linking gut hormones, inflammation, and metabolic disorders. Her research spans endocrinology, molecular physiology, and translational medicine.
Publications highlight her contributions to obesity endocrinology, gut hormone regulation, and metabolic signaling pathways. She has pioneered studies on ABC transporters in diabetes and gut physiology, with implications for novel therapeutic strategies.
