Dr. Heidi Zinzow is Professor of Psychology at Clemson University and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She completed postdoctoral training in Traumatic Stress at the National Crime Victims Research & Treatment Center (MUSC) and joined Clemson in 2008. She holds a Ph.D. (2007) and M.S. (2005) from the University of Georgia, and a B.S. from Duke University (1998).
Her research examines trauma, mental health, and violence prevention, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications. She developed technology-based sexual violence prevention programs and co-founded Tigers Together to Stop Suicide (SAMHSA-funded). Current NIH/NSF-funded projects include mindfulness interventions for opioid use disorders, virtual reality therapy for driving anxiety in veterans, and social media risk behavior contagion.
Awarded the Thomas Green Clemson Award for Excellence (2022) and President's Outstanding Woman Faculty Award (2019), she leads gender equity initiatives through Clemson's NSF ADVANCE program. She serves on the Title IX Hearing Board and National Mass Violence and Victimization Resource Center.
