Hannah Godwin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at Clemson University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Oregon with a certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies, along with degrees from Wake Forest University. Her research focuses on modernist literature, childhood studies, and queer/sexuality studies, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of gothic aesthetics and ecological themes in American literature.

Research Interests: Godwin explores how modernist writers negotiate cultural anxieties through depictions of childhood, gender, and ecology. Her work examines texts by Faulkner, Welty, and others to analyze themes like haunting, environmental justice, and historical trauma. Current projects include a book on 'American Modernism’s Gothic Children' and essays on dystopian narratives in contemporary literature.

Teaching & Service: Godwin teaches courses on global modernism, children’s/adolescent literature, and environmental humanities. She has served on Clemson’s AHL Committee and as a Tigers Together Advocate for Suicide Prevention. Her pedagogical focus includes inclusive writing instruction and critical analysis of literary form.
