Jamison Scott Bottomley, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), affiliated with the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center (NCVC) and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His research focuses on traumatic loss, including bereavement after sudden or violent deaths, substance use effects on trauma outcomes, and psychological interventions for grief. Funded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and NIMHD, he also studies mass violence impacts and bereavement-related stigma. Recent publications highlight his work on suicide risk assessment, psychiatric comorbidities, and overdose bereavement.
