Heidi Vanden Brink is a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Lujan Lab at Cornell University's Division of Nutritional Sciences and a Visiting Researcher at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She specializes in adolescent health, early biomarkers of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and reproductive/metabolic disturbances in adolescents. Her research focuses on using ultrasound biomarkers to detect early reproductive disturbances post-menarche.
Education: PhD (Nutrition) from Cornell University, MSc (Health Sciences, Reproductive Physiology & Endocrinology) and BSc (Physiology) from the University of Saskatchewan.
Research emphasizes anovulatory conditions in women, glucoregulatory status analysis, and multi-site prospective cohort studies. She received the CIHR Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award for her innovative work in adolescent health.
Current projects involve characterizing nutritional, metabolic, and reproductive changes in adolescents during the first two years post-menarche through collaborative studies between Cornell and Children’s Mercy Hospital.
