Heidi Sandaker is a Professor of High Energy Physics at the University of Oslo's Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. She leads the Norwegian Centre for CERN-related research (NorCC), coordinating over 200 researchers across seven institutions.
Research explores particle physics, dark matter, antimatter gravity experiments (AEGIS), and detector development for ATLAS and Cherenkov Telescope Array. Key questions address beyond-Standard Model physics and cosmic phenomena.
Recent publications (2024-2025) predominantly focus on Higgs boson studies (40% of articles) and supersymmetry searches (20%). ATLAS collaboration research constitutes 90% of output, with strong emphasis on exotic particle decays and detector instrumentation.
Awards: Bergen Research Foundation Recruitment Award (2009), CERN Fellowship (2005).
As Deputy Head of Department for Research, she oversees strategic initiatives. Leads Norwegian participation in ATLAS ITK upgrade and CTA. Teaches thermodynamics and quantum mechanics.
Directs the Dark Matter Initiative at UiO and coordinates EU training networks. Lab focuses on silicon detector R&D for HL-LHC.
