Dr Heidi Phillips is an Associate Professor of Primary Care at Swansea University Medical School. She has been integral to the Graduate Entry Medical Programme since 2004, holding roles such as Primary Care Lead, Deputy Programme Director, Quality Assurance Director, and Admissions Director. She leads the Primary Care Academy, which earned her prestigious awards including the Swansea University School of Medicine Innovation Award (2019) and BMJ/BMA Cymru Wales awards for Teaching and Learning Innovation and Clinical Teaching Excellence.
Her expertise spans Primary Care, patient-centered medicine, and learner-centered educational strategies. She actively promotes widening access to medical education and improving workforce recruitment/retention. Professional memberships include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellowship with the Academy of Medical Educators.
Dr Phillips is also an Executive Board Member of the Medical Schools Council Select Alliance and an Independent Member of Health Education and Improvement Board for Wales.
