Heidi Fjeld is a Professor in Medical Anthropology at the Department of Community Medicine and Global Health, University of Oslo. She holds a doctoral degree in social anthropology and leads the RCN-funded project 'From Asia to Africa: Antibiotic Trajectories across the Indian Ocean' (2020-2025). Her research focuses on medical systems in Tibet and the Himalayas, antimicrobial resistance in the Global South, and health access for transmigrants. Fjeld coordinates the 'Engaged Community Medicine' group, addressing migration and health in Oslo. She has taught courses in medical anthropology, qualitative research methods, and global health. Notable projects include studies on antibiotic flows from China/India to Africa, food systems in Bhutan, and maternal health among undocumented migrants in Norway. Her work bridges anthropology, public health, and policy, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
