Heidi E Jones

Heidi E. Jones is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health (SPH), where she also serves as the Director of the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology (currently on sabbatical for the 2024-2025 academic year). With over 20 years of experience, her research focuses on improving reproductive and sexual health outcomes globally and domestically, emphasizing individual autonomy over health decisions. She has lived and worked in Burkina Faso and Senegal.

Jones' research spans reproductive health services, including abortion care, contraceptive counseling, STI management (including HIV), cervical cancer screening, and maternal health. Her recent work explores epidemiological methods and the microbiome's role in health. She has co-authored over 100 publications and contributes to academic discourse via the Contraception journal's Editorial Board.

As Director of the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology, she oversees academic training and mentorship for doctoral candidates at CUNY SPH. Her career bridges clinical, methodological, and global health perspectives, with a focus on service delivery innovations.
