Hedwig van Rossum

Hedwig van Rossum is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with affiliations in the Legal Theory and Legal History department, the Kooijmans Institute, and the Boundaries of Law unit. Her research focuses on legal education, academic law pedagogy, and student learning methodologies. She holds a PhD from VU Amsterdam (2023) and actively contributes to educational innovation in legal training.

Her research interests center on integrating critical thinking, creative thinking, and responsibility into legal education. She explores pedagogical strategies such as dual coding theory, play-based learning, and multimedia approaches to enhance juridical education. Recent work includes studies on thesis writing, active learning techniques, and educational reform in legal curricula.

Van Rossum teaches core courses like 'Encyclopedie der rechtswetenschap I' and contributes to legal methodology training. She has been involved in professional activities including lectures on video use in education and pandemic-era examination strategies.
