Hedwig Schroeck, MD is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College. She serves as Director of Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA) and Associate Director of Anesthesiology Quality and Safety at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Her research focuses on improving team dynamics and crisis management in NORA environments, with particular emphasis on anesthesia provider workload and stress reduction. She leads initiatives to develop inter-professional simulation modules for MRI-OR and other non-traditional surgical settings.
Dr. Schroeck completed medical training in Munich, followed by residency and pediatric anesthesia fellowship at the University of North Carolina. She previously held faculty positions at the University of North Carolina and University of Michigan (Mott Children’s Hospital). She has received the Department of Anesthesiology A&D Glass Scholarship Award, supporting her work on neurosurgical anesthesia in hybrid MRI-OR environments.
Her professional contributions include hospital-wide safety initiatives and publications addressing anesthesia challenges in specialized surgical environments. Current projects emphasize leadership strategies for NORA teams and mitigating stressors in remote hybrid suites.
