Hedda Wardemann is a leading academic in B Cell Immunology at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) since 2014. Her career spans roles such as Speaker of the DKFZ Tumor Immunology Program (2016–2019), Max Planck Research Group Leader (2006–2014), and Research Assistant Professor at The Rockefeller University (2003–2005). Her research bridges immunology, infection biology, and systems biology.
- Dr. rer. nat. (Albert-Ludwig-University Freiburg, Germany, 2001)
- Dipl. Biol. (Albert-Ludwig-University Freiburg, Germany, 1998)
Wardemann’s work focuses on B cell immunology, including immunoglobulin repertoires, malaria, and vaccine development. She employs single-cell analysis and systems immunology to study antibody responses against infections and inform vaccine design.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in malaria immunology (2015–2018), Klebsiella pneumoniae antibody specificity (2018), and B cell dynamics in vaccine responses. Her studies often integrate high-throughput sequencing, systems biology, and translational approaches.
- Member of the European B Cell Network (2018)
- Founding member of the IUIS vaccine committee (2015)
Wardemann’s leadership roles include heading the DKFZ Division of B Cell Immunology since 2014, contributing to tumor immunology (2016–2019), and leading malaria research teams. Her work has significant implications for infectious disease and cancer immunology.
