Dr. Heba Eassa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Studies. She joined USJ in 2021 after serving as an assistant professor at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, where she held teaching roles for over a decade. Her research focuses on innovative drug delivery systems, particularly microneedle formulations for skin cancer treatment and nanoparticle-based therapies. Dr. Eassa completed her Ph.D. and postdoctoral training at Al-Azhar University and USJ, respectively, and brings over 15 years of expertise in pharmaceutical formulation and drug delivery design.
Education Background: B.Sc. (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Al-Azhar University, 2007), M.Sc. (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Al-Azhar University, 2012), Ph.D. (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Al-Azhar University, 2016). She also holds a pre-doctoral fellowship and postdoctoral training at USJ (2019).
Research Interests: Dr. Eassa specializes in advanced drug delivery systems including microneedles, nanoparticles, and transdermal gels. Her work addresses challenges in targeted drug delivery for conditions such as skin cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and chronic infections. She also explores emerging technologies like 3D-printed microfluidics and augmented reality applications in pharmacy education.
Publications Overview: Her recent work spans topics like nanotechnology-driven therapies, exosome applications in oncology, and quality assessment of nutraceuticals. She emphasizes translational research bridging lab innovations to clinical solutions, particularly in under-served healthcare areas like autism spectrum disorder care and pandemic response technologies.
