Dr. Heather Walton is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the School of Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Her work focuses on air pollution health impact assessment and policy optimization. She chairs COMEAP's QUARK subgroup and co-leads Theme II of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit on Environmental Exposures and Health.
Her research interests include air pollution's health effects, ozone exposure, nitrogen dioxide vs. particulate matter differentiation, systematic reviews, and long-term exposure analysis using life-tables. She collaborates widely, including with Public Health England, the Climate Change Committee Secretariat, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and others.
Prior experience includes roles in the UK's scientific civil service at the Department of Health and Health Protection Agency, where she advised policy development. She trained in biochemistry and toxicology, applying this expertise to bridge scientific research and public health policy.
