Heather Szatmary is a Professor of Foundation Studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she has served since 1997. Her roles include Advanced Placement exam reader, faculty adviser to SCAD Hillel (since 2001), and former Design Coordinator (2003–2007). She holds an M.F.A. in Fibers from SCAD and a B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her research focuses on foundational art education, experimental art practices, and the integration of humor into pedagogy and exhibition design. Szatmary’s work spans installations, mixed-media pieces, and collaborative exhibitions that explore themes like urban space, consumer culture, and artistic process documentation.
