معرفی
Dr. Heather Sprenger is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. Her research focuses on physiology, exercise, metabolism, environmental physiology, and performance optimization. She holds a PhD in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph. Previously, she served as Lead of Sport Physiology and Research and Innovation at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO), where she collaborated with National/Provincial Sport Organizations to bridge applied research and athlete performance. Her work integrates her dual expertise as an athlete (former National Team member in ice hockey and road cycling) and researcher. She teaches courses in health sciences and maintains an office in the U5 Building, Room 23.
Education: PhD, University of Guelph, Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences (supervised by Dr. Lawrence Spriet, funded by Gatorade Sport Science Institute).
Research interests emphasize understanding how environmental factors (e.g., dehydration) influence skeletal muscle metabolism, substrate oxidation, and athletic performance. She has published extensively on hydration strategies, gender-specific metabolic responses, and exercise-induced cellular adaptations.
