Heather H. Cheng

Dr. Heather H. Cheng is a Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington School of of Medicine and a Professor in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. She also serves as Director of the Prostate Cancer Genetics Clinic at Fred Hutch and holds an Adjunct Professor position in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at UW.

Dr. Cheng's research focuses on the inherited genetics of prostate cancer risk, relationship to cancer-specific mutations, and genomics of prostate cancer. Her clinical expertise includes:

• Genitourinary cancers
• Prostate cancer and prostate cancer genetics
• Cancer biomarkers
• Clinical trials and experimental therapeutics

She leads several major clinical trials including PRECISION Registry, IRONMAN, and PROMISE Registry focusing on prostate cancer treatment and prevention for those with genetic risk factors. Her work bridges research and clinical practice, bringing leading-edge genetic discoveries directly to patients.

Dr. Cheng completed her M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of Washington through the Medical Scientist Training Program, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at UW. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
