Heather Gibson is Assistant Professor of Oncology at Wayne State University's Karmanos Cancer Institute, with joint appointments in Pharmacology. Her NIH-funded laboratory employs functional genomics and diverse mouse models to investigate immunotherapy resistance mechanisms.
Research focuses on genetic regulators of checkpoint inhibitor response and antibody-based immunotherapies. Current projects examine T cell activation dynamics, macrophage polarization in tumor microenvironments, and novel metalloimmunotherapy approaches using rhodium/ruthenium complexes.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in ImmunoPET tracer development and genetic mapping of immunotherapy response determinants. Collaborative projects explore FOXQ1-mediated metastasis and antifolate targeting in ovarian cancer models.
