Dr. Heather F. Ball is the Assistant Provost for Faculty Engagement and Development at St. John’s University, where she leads the Center for Faculty Success and Development. As an Associate Professor, her work focuses on enhancing faculty teaching, research, and professional development through programming, fellowships, and a University-wide mentoring initiative.
She earned her Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo, SUNY, with a dissertation examining the impact of critical race theory-based information literacy workshops on first-year students of color. Her research spans interdisciplinary fields including information science, digital humanities, medieval studies, and Victorian studies.
The Center for Faculty Success and Development, under her direction, collaborates with deans, chairs, and faculty to establish programmatic goals for mentoring initiatives that now include new, midlevel, and senior faculty members. She joined St. John’s in 2017 after a decade as Global Network Research Manager at a leading advertising agency and prior roles in academic librarianship.
