Heather Ellis Cucolo is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School, where she has taught since 2007. She serves as acting facilitator of the J.D./M.A. joint program with John Jay College of Criminal Justice and previously acted as director of the Online Mental Disability Law Program. Her teaching focuses on criminal law, professional responsibility, and mental disability law.

Professor Cucolo specializes in intersections between criminal law and mental disability law, with expertise in sexual offender legislation, legal ethics, and health care policy. Her work extends to international disability rights, including United Nations advocacy and educational programs in Japan on disability legislation.

As co-owner of Mental Disability Law and Policy Associates, she provides continuing education for legal and clinical professionals. She also contributes to Collier Youth Services and has partnered with organizations to develop crisis intervention training for law enforcement.
