Heather Elizabeth Whitson is a Distinguished Professor in Neuroscience and holds academic positions in Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Head & Neck Surgery at Duke University School of Medicine. She leads the Duke/UNC Alzheimer's Disease initiative and directs the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Her work focuses on improving care for patients with multiple chronic conditions, linking eye/brain aging changes, and promoting resilience to health stressors. Whitson earned her MD from Cornell University and completed geriatrics fellowships at Duke.
