Heather Blue

Heather Blue is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Minnesota's College of Pharmacy. She holds BCPS (Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist) certification and completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy (2007) followed by a residency at Mercy and Unity Hospitals in Coon Rapids, MN.

Her research focuses on:

• Opioid crisis interventions and harm reduction strategies
• Bridging didactic learning with clinical practice
• Developing critical thinking skills in healthcare education
• Evidence-based pharmacy practice using mixed-methodologies
• Clinical problem-solving and toxicology education

Her recent publications (2020-2022) primarily address opioid crisis management in rural communities, pharmacist roles in harm reduction, emergency medicine therapeutics, and innovative pharmacy education methods. Research demonstrates strong focus on qualitative assessments of healthcare provider perceptions and systematic reviews of clinical interventions.

Blue serves as Co-Investigator on NIH-funded projects including:
